This Privacy Notice explains how WPShield collects and uses personal data when you visit wpshield.uk, use our website checker or contact us about our WordPress maintenance services. WPShield is a service operated by Webtag Online Kft., a company registered in Hungary.

2. What data we collect and why
Quote requests and enquiries. When you use our enquiry form or email us, we process your name, work email address, phone number (optional), website address, preferred plan (optional), your message, and technical data such as the date and time of submission and your IP address. We use this data to review your website, respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
Website checker. When you use the free website checker, we process the website address you enter and fetch publicly available information from that website to identify known WordPress components and vulnerabilities. We temporarily store your IP address to prevent abuse of the tool. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing a secure, fairly used service.
Customers. If you become a customer, we process contact and billing details, service details and the technical access data needed to maintain your website (for example WordPress, hosting or FTP access). Legal basis: performance of our contract with you and compliance with legal obligations such as accounting rules.
Cookies. We use strictly necessary cookies to run the website and, only with your consent, preference, statistics and marketing cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
3. How long we keep your data
- Enquiries that do not lead to a contract: until your enquiry has been answered or, where we send a quotation, until the quotation’s validity period ends.
- Customer data: for the duration of the contract and up to 5 years afterwards for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
- Invoices and accounting records: 8 years, as required by Hungarian accounting law.
- Website checker abuse-prevention data (IP address): for a short period, typically less than one hour.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We use carefully selected service providers (processors) who act only on our instructions, for example for hosting, email delivery and consent management. Webtag Online Kft. operates the hosting infrastructure for this website.
5. International transfers
We are based in the European Union (Hungary). Personal data transfers between the UK and the EEA are covered by adequacy arrangements. Where a provider processes data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
6. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. 7. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ico.org.uk, or to the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH), naih.hu.
